Colnago Master – verkauft

This gem goes by the name Colnago Master and belongs to the first generation of the model series. It was the flagship of the brand and replaced the Mexico at the top.

The product of the combined knowledge of two cycling pioneers

The history of the Colnago Masters goes back to the early 1980s, when Ernesto Colnago tried to increase the stiffness of his frames. He finally achieved this in 1983 in collaboration with Gilberto Colombo by changing the profile of the tubes. The Profilo S4 design was born. The tube is no longer round, but almost square, like a honeycomb.

A bestseller for 35 years

The influence of this innovation can still be seen today in ultra-modern carbon frames built with similar sleeves and tubular profiles. However, it not only lives on in modern bikes, but actually continues to be produced today. Even back then it was every bike enthusiast's dream bike and this has not changed to this day.

A title guarantee at the first go

In the year the Colnago Masters was launched, Guiseppe Saronni rode it straight to the Giro d'Italia title. In the following years, the winning streak did not stop and the Master soon became the frame with the most victories in the professional field.

Engineering at its finest

This title guarantee is equipped with the best components of its time
- the Campagnolo C-Record groupset.

The first aero attempts...

Campagnolo revised its Record groupset in the mid-80s with the aim of producing more aerodynamic components. The result was the C-Record, probably the most beautifully designed Campagnolo groupset of all time. The C-Record was first introduced in 1984 and supplied to professional treks and major Italian bike companies in 1985. From 1986, it was available to the masses.

...with the infamous Delta brake

The group was initially available with the infamous Delta brakes, but these were recalled after braking force problems and replaced by Cobalto brakes in 1987. These are basically Super Record brakes with a decorative blue stone in the mounting nut recess. In the second generation, the Delta brakes were then revised and thus became part of the group again.
