Colnago Super Profil – Verkauft
The Colnago Super Profile was developed in a time of experimentation, when for the first time the tried and tested round tubular profile was called into question and ways were sought to further increase the stiffness of the frames.
Revolutionary in every way
The Colnago Super first appeared in 1968 and has since been regarded as one of the most advanced racing bikes of its time, the first choice among professional cyclists until the early 1980s. Few bikes have influenced the cycling scene as much as this one. Ernesto Colnago designed a frameset that was considered revolutionary in terms of geometry, weight and stiffness. The frameset was brazed from lightweight Columbus SL tubes and the wheelbase was shortened. Since its launch, countless road bikes have been built with geometry inspired by this model.
Colnago addressed its critics
However, it seemed that not all riders were satisfied with the stiffness of the original Super frame. So the idea came up to add crimps to the round tubes. This is how the Colnago Super profile was born. During this time improvements were made until the Super was replaced in the early 80s by the Nuovo Mexico, which had a total of 4 crushes in the down tube. When the Nuovo Mexico became the new flagship, the Super was again produced with smooth, round main tubes.
Title adorned
This special Colnago Super Profile frame dates back to 1984 and corresponds to the frame of the Del Tongo - Colnago team in which Giuseppe Saronni rode to the world championship title at Goodwood in 1982 and went on to win Milan - San Remo and the Giro d'Italia the following year. Although Colnago had already brought out the Nuovo Mexico at the time, Saronni insisted on continuing to ride his Super and rewarded the Italians with top performances.
Campagnolo's flagship for over 10 years
The Super Record group was first launched in 1974 and is the successor to the Nuovo Record group. In 1987, Campagnolo discontinued the production of the Super Record group and replaced it with the C-Record group.
The components of this Super Profile are elaborately pantographed.
The Group Set of World Champions
The maxim was to combine the attributes of lightness, safety and stiffness. Campagnolo achieved this through a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. This is the group of world champions.
The best material for the best riders
The Super Record group complemented the range of the Italian manufacturer Campagnolo from 1974 onwards and was designed to enable top performance. Super Record is synonymous with professional material and consisted of the highest quality materials of its time.
