This Francesco Moser in cromovelato red is probably one of the most beautiful bikes of its time. Equipped with a Campagnolo Super Record groupset from 1981, it is a classic from the golden era of Italian racing.
Cromovelato. One of the most beautiful ways to paint a bicycle
Few know how this cromovelato effect is actually brought about. It is important to understand here that it is not a special paint that is sprayed onto the frame. Rather, the process starts right after soldering. After the tubes and the sleeves have been assembled into a frame, the frame is completely cleaned and polished to a high gloss. After polishing, the frame is dipped into a chrome bath and thus receives its protective layer. The chrome plating further enhances the shine of the polish. In a final step, a thin layer of lacquer is applied. According to the Italian translation, this disguises the chrome. Cromovelato can be translated as "veiled chrome".
A total of 272 titles speak for themselves
Francesco Moser is a household name. Moser became a professional racer in 1973 and was known as an individual time trialist at the beginning. He won important one-day races such as Milan-San Remo in 1984, the Tour of Lombardy in 1975 and 1978 and Paris-Roubaix a whole three times in a row (1978-1980). In 1977 he became road world champion in Venezuela. One of his most successful years was 1984, when he won the Giro d'Italia and set a new world hour record. With the new record he knocked Eddy Merckx off his throne and kept this title for 9 years.
CAMPAGNOLO'S FLAGSHIP FOR OVER 10 YEARS
The Super Record group was first launched in 1974 and is the successor to the Nuovo Record group. In 1987, Campagnolo discontinued the production of the Super Record groupset and replaced it with the C-Record groupset. This Super Record group dates back to 1981.
THE GROUP OF WORLD CHAMPIONS
The maxim was to combine the attributes of lightness, safety and stiffness. Campagnolo achieved this through a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. This is the group of world champions.
THE BEST MATERIAL FOR THE BEST RIDERS
The Super Record group complemented the range of the Italian manufacturer Campagnolo from 1974 onwards and was designed to enable top performance. Super Record is synonymous with professional material and consisted of the highest quality materials of its time.
